Fantasy in the Sky was presented in one form on another in the the Magic Kingdom from opening day until October of 2003. A newer version of it occasionally plays on special occasions like New Year’s Eve.

Spectromagic was the beloved replacement for the Main Street Electrical Parade, which we were told was going to go away forever but somehow came back. Spectromagic had some unique touches (the Chernabog unit from Fantasia was cool), but growing up with the original Electric Parade and its super-funky synthamagnetic musical sounds, Spectromagic for me was more of an opportunity to hightail it to Frontierland and get in as many rides on Big Thunder Mountain and Splash Mountain as possible while the masses watched the parade during the two evening performances.

The recording of Spectromagic here is a bit repetitive, as each of the units had their own playback system and sounds. The backing tracks, which I captured, aren’t particularly interesting. I was able to catch the announcement with Jiminy Cricket that played 5 minutes before the show starts, so it’s included here.

These recordings were made in 1995, date unknown. I believe the speaker was in a planter near the juncture of Liberty Square and Frontierland.

What an absolute goldmine this is. Especially this version of Fantasy in the Sky. I’ve been hunting for a clean version of this for 24 years. No joke. Thank you so much.
